Asymptotic Properties of Bootstrap Likelihood Ratio Statistics for Time Censored Data

چکیده
Much research has been done on the asymptotic distributions of likelihood ratio statistics for complete data. In this paper we consider the situation in which the data are censored and the distribution of the likelihood ratio statistic is a mixture of continuous and discrete distributions. We show that the distribution of signed square root likelihood ratio statistic can be approximated by its bootstrap distribution up to second order accuracy. Similar results are shown to hold for likelihood ratio statistics with or without a Bartlett correction. The main tool used is a continuous Edgeworth expansion for the likelihood-based statistics, which may be of some independent interest. Further, we use a simulation study to investigate the adequacy of the approximation provided by the theoretical result by comparing the finite-sample coverage probability of several competing confidence interval procedures based on the two parameters Weibull model. Our simulation results show that, in finite samples, the methods based on the bootstrap signed square root likelihood ratio statistic outperform the bootstrap-t and BCa methods in constructing one-sided confidence bounds when the data are Type I censored.

Estimation of Parameters for an Extended Generalized Half Logistic Distribution Based on Complete and Censored Data
This paper considers an Extended Generalized Half Logistic distribution. We derive some properties of this distribution and then we discuss estimation of the distribution parameters by the methods of moments, maximum likelihood and the new method of minimum spacing distance estimator based on complete data. Also, maximum likelihood equations for estimating the parameters based on Type-I and Typ...
متن کاملBootstrap likelihood ratio confidence bands for survival functions under random censorship and its semiparametric extension
Simultaneous confidence bands (SCBs) for survival functions, from randomly right censored data, can be computed by inverting likelihood ratio functions based on appropriate thresholds. Sometimes, however, the requisite asymptotic distributions are intractable, or thresholds based on Brownian bridge approximations are not easy to obtain when SCBs over only sub-regions are possible or desired. We...
متن کاملComparisons of Approximate Confidence Interval Procedures for Type I Censored Data
This article compares different procedures to compute confidence intervals for parameters and quantiles of the Weibull, lognormal, and similar log-location-scale distributions from Type I censored data that typically arise from life-test experiments. The procedures can be classified into three groups. The first group contains procedures based on the commonly used normal approximation for the di...
متن کاملNonparametric Bootstrap for Quasi-Likelihood Ratio Tests∗
We introduce a nonparametric bootstrap approach for Quasi-Likelihood Ratio type tests of nonlinear restrictions. Our method applies to extremum estimators, such as quasimaximum likelihood and generalized method of moments estimators. Unlike existing parametric bootstrap procedures for Quasi-Likelihood Ratio type tests, our procedure constructs bootstrap samples in a fully nonparametric way. We ...
متن کاملAsymptotic Properties of Nonparametric Estimation Based on Partly Interval-Censored Data
We study asymptotic properties of the nonparametric maximum likelihood estimator (NPMLE) of a distribution function based on partly interval-censored data in which the exact values of some failure times are observed in addition to interval-censored observations. It is shown that the NPMLE converges weakly to a mean zero Gaussian process whose covariance function is determined by a Fredholm inte...
